Music, where for art thou?

I’ve been on the hunt for music lately and I thought I’d share some webpages n’ things I’ve found helpful.

1) SPIN magazine. This is the official website for the magazine. It’s a nice place to find newer stuff that isn’t totally fringe. You can also stay updated on a number of more known bands.

2) Skreemr.com This site is for when you have a specific band or song in mind that you want to listen to (or download). Think of it as a web based version of Napster. If you can’t find it there, check beemp3.com or songza.com.

3) Muxtape.com Anyone can create a profile and upload a 12 song playlist from their own computer. You can go and listen to what other people put together. Their isn’t a way to search for specific music, but it’s a fun place to click on playlists randomly. It’s in beta, so be patient.

4) Grooveshark.com Have a specific song in mind that you’re dying to hear? Search it here and listen to it. Create your own playlists (even if you don’t own or have the music downloaded to your hard drive). Share it. Find new music similar to stuff you like.

5) thesixtyone.com This is my current fave. If you know digg.com, this is basically the digg.com for music. You listen to songs and “bump” them up for others to hear if you like them. It’s a little buggy (also in beta) but fun.

Do you have a good webpage for music fans? Leave it in the comments.
