Voicemail..

Two new (to me) additions to voicemail dealings:

Youmail.com.  You can sign up for this free voicemail service at the website. It links to your cell phone and picks up before your standard voicemail will. Why do you need this voicemail instead of the standard one you’re using?

- You can record individual voicemail greetings for any of your contacts. Or use a smart greeting, that can read caller ID and call people by name!

- You can get text telling you who called when and how long the voicemail is. You can call to hear it, or login at youmail.com to listen to it online. Save it or forward it to a friend! There is even a beta test on transcoding the voicemail to text and have it sent to you as a text!

- If you’re getting calls from someone you don’t want, you can use ditchmail. You put their number in and whenever they call, it forwards to a voicemail that says, “This number does not accept calls from a blocked number. Please unblock your phone and call again.”  The funny thing is, they can’t unblock their phone! Ha ha ha!

- It’s still free and you can switch back to your normal voicemail whenever you feel like it.

Another voicemail trick:  Have you ever called someone hoping they wouldn’t pickup so you could just leave a message?  Next time call (267) SLY-DIAL, listen to a short advert, then input the person’s cell number and it will connect you directly to their voicemail. Leave a message without risking talking to them* :)

*Don’t use this to break up with someone. Use text. :)
